Xurya’s Journey: From Revolutionizing Energy in Indonesia to Achieving B Corp Certification
Xurya’s Journey: From Revolutionizing Energy in Indonesia to Achieving B Corp Certification August 06, 2024 In 2018, solar power adoption in Indonesia was almost non-existent due to everyone’s apprehension about the high initial investment and technical issues from poorly executed projects. Xurya was founded to tackle these problems, hoping to spur solar power adoption and grow Indonesia’s renewable energy sector. Our solution was to provide a one-stop solar service, offering solar rental and handling all engineering, operations, and maintenance in-house. This concept, while not new globally, was pioneering in Indonesia. Since then, we’ve helped more than 150 commercial and industrial buildings go solar and created over a thousand green jobs.In 2021, one of our impact investors introduced us to the B Corp community. The journey was long and strenuous, but surprisingly akin to self-discovery, we were pleased to find we could meet most requirements. As one co-founder explained early on, “Through our product, we are project developers and market makers, bringing together investors, clients, vendors, contractors, and our team to align everyone with our green mission.” This collaborative attitude, benefiting all stakeholders, was crucial for our B Corp Certification. Finding inspiration from our unmet requirements, we launched a solar EPC training program in 2023 to improve not only our contractor quality but also our B Corp scores. At last, in 2024, we proudly became one of the first energy companies in Indonesia to earn B Corp Certification, affirming our commitment to doing things the right way.
